I came across a post today by Gordana Biernat that really resonated with me and I also want to expand on it. Here’s what she wrote:
“When you daydream, you’re tuning in to your desires, crafting inner images of a future YOU.
It’s like recalling the past, but instead, you’re forming pleasant “memories” of the future.
The Universe takes a snapshot of your daydream and creates a 3-D reality for you to enjoy.”
The Self that gives rise to dreams…
When we daydream our brainwaves slow down and we can have visions of what our heart really dreams of. Who and what we can be; what our yearning is truly for; what our innate calling is…..
It’s like a door to a whole new world of possibility and potential has been opened. We feel a profound sense of wonder, joy and connection.
We’ve gone beyond our minds and our sense of a limited little “me”. The wonderful feeling comes from being one again with our true Self (capital “S”).
We are home once more…..
These dreams are not about addressing inadequacies or fears but are about expressions of love, play, creation, and joy. We feel a deep inner knowing that we are dancing with the Universe in life’s playground. We feel peaceful yet very alive.
Now here’s the thing…..
Sooner or later, our mind interrupts this peace and aliveness with practical questions: “How do I do this?” The intellect struggles with this because it can only reference past experiences and existing knowledge. As soon as we start to think about the ‘how,’ limiting beliefs flood back in: “Who am I to…?” “I don’t know how…” “I’ll be shot down…” “They’ll judge me”….”What if I fail”…😱 etc etc
Interestingly, our minds are not particularly creative in these moments, often replaying the same limiting playlist. But that’s actually good news!
Your innate design that works…..
Hold the end result of your vision in mind and the feelings it evokes for a while each day - even if it’s just 5mins eg I am on the small but perfectly formed balcony of my beautiful greek retreat, drinking coffee overlooking the glistening aegean sea. I can feel the warmth of the sunshine on my back. It’s quiet and peaceful. (No guesses as to whom that dream belongs!!😆) Let it be fun. Let go of the how.
When you hold the vision in mind, ideas will emerge, and synchronicities will occur, like magic.
The action part - making it real….
Hold the end result in mind and from this vision, ask yourself, “What's the first next step?” You will get an answer and your only job is to take that first next step and then the next step will be revealed after not before.
SO…….. what’s one dream you’ve been daydreaming about?
Maybe you’ve a dream you’re denying because your mind doesn’t think it’s possible?
What if you chose to spend a few minutes today visualising it clearly as real. Your dream made manifest in reality. Allow yourself to feel it….luxuriate in it… If your mind pipes up, thank it and let it now you’ll be back to it shortly. Then return to the dream.
Your dreams and inner yearnings will guide you each step of the way if you tune into them.
Have FUN and dance with life. Why not?
I do this with my art a lot. Currently with the giant yarn ball!
How would you answer the question: Which dream(s) do I focus on? I.e. What if I have many dreams — I can’t do them all at once.
How do I decipher which are the truest, most authentic dreams versus ones my mind has inserted into the mix?
